Señor Presidente del Gobierno:

Estoy leyendo en la prensa estos últimos días la situación de Aminetu Haidar, y sus declaraciones a la prensa sobre los motivos de la huelga de hambre que ha iniciado.
Este simple y preocupante hecho, me lleva a reflexionar sobre la política internacional del gobierno que usted preside.

Si bien entiendo que el gobierno de un Estado, tiene poco margen de movimiento en el terreno económico, debido a la inclusión en la moneda común, y las políticas que se deciden en el ámbito europeo, veo que su gobierno se permite tener políticas internacionales distintas de la de la mayoría de países de la Comunidad Europea.
Y aquí está el motivo de mi preocupación, y la causa de que me haya sentido obligado a redactar esta carta.

De memoria, recuerdo en éstos últimos tiempos:
• La retirada de tropas en Kosovo.
• El nulo apoyo al Pueblo Saharaui, tanto en la realización del referéndum, como en casos como el de A. Haidar.
• El hecho de no haber recibido oficialmente a representantes del Tíbet o del Dalai Lama en su reciente visita.

El estos casos, la política internacional de España, se podría considerar servil con el poderoso, y muy dura con el débil. Permisiva con estados poderosos, y estricta con pueblos oprimidos.

Esto no proyecta una buena imagen de la política del Gobierno que usted preside.
Considero especialmente grave la falta de atención al Pueblo Saharaui, después de la responsabilidad que tiene nuestro país, y todos nosotros, en la situación de estas personas, abandonadas a su suerte por la cobardía de gobiernos anteriores al suyo, en el período no democrático.

Por tanto, les ruego que hagan un esfuerzo diplomático con el Gobierno de Marruecos para resolver el problema de Aminetu Haidar, de una forma digna para ella, y exigente e imperativa para el gobierno de Marruecos.

Sir President of the Government:

I am reading in the press these last days the situation of Aminetu Haidar, and its declarations to the press on the reasons for the hunger strike that it has initiated.
This simple and worrisome fact, takes to me to reflect on the international policy of the government who you preside.

Although I understand that the government of a State, it has little margin of movement in the economic land, due to the inclusion in the common currency, and the policies that are decided in the European scope, I see that his government is allowed to have international policies different from the one of the majority of countries of the European Community.

And here it is the reason for my preoccupation, and the cause of which it has felt to me forced to write up this letter.

I remember in these last times:
• The withdrawal of forces in Kosovo.
• The null support to the Saharaui People, as much in the accomplishment of the referendum, like in cases like the one of A. Haidar.
• The fact of not to have received officially to representatives of Tibet or Dalai Lama in its recent visit.

These cases, the international policy of Spain, could be considered servile with powerful, and the very hard with the weak one. Permissive with powerful states, and strict with pressed people.
This does not project a good image of the policy of the Government who you preside.

I consider unacceptable the lack of attention to the Saharaui people, after the responsibility that has our country, and all we, in the situation of these people, left by chance by the cowardice of governments previous to yours, in the nondemocratic period.

Therefore, I request that we deliver a diplomatic effort with the Government of Morocco to solve the problem of Aminetu Haidar, of a worthy form for her, and demanding and imperative for the government of Morocco.
